This coffee originates from a small community of farmers in Bukhanakwa, high on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda. These dedicated farmers partner with Zukuka Bora Coffee Company, a group of producers committed to empowering the region. Every purchase of this coffee directly contributes to community development through a dedicated premium, ensuring that the benefits extend beyond the farm. This direct trade model marks a significant shift, reviving a practice not seen in the area for decades and fostering a renewed sense of economic opportunity.
Zukuka Bora's impact is deeply intertwined with JENGA Community Development, an NGO with nearly two decades of experience in the Mt. Elgon region. Profits from the coffee project support JENGA’s diverse initiatives, including education sponsorships, clean water projects, health programs, and enhanced farming support. This holistic approach ensures sustainable development and empowers the community beyond coffee production.
Mount Elgon, an extinct volcano and potentially the oldest on the African continent, provides the ideal terroir for this exceptional coffee. Its fertile volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, high altitudes and ample sunshine create a unique microclimate. While the region boasts a deep-rooted coffee tradition dating back to the 1920s, the path to specialty coffee has been complex. After a period of decline following Uganda’s independence, the resurgence of the specialty coffee industry has reignited a focus on quality, offering farmers renewed economic viability and a chance to showcase the exceptional potential of Mt. Elgon’s coffee.

Incorrect or Damaged Orders
If you receive an incorrect or damaged order, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order. We will then arrange for the return of the goods and either replace the item or issue a full refund.
Changed Your Mind
If you have changed your mind about an item you have ordered, you can return it for a full refund within 14 days of receiving your order. Please note that the item must be returned in its original packaging and sealed.

Shipping Costs
You will be responsible for the cost of shipping the goods back to us. We recommend that you obtain proof of delivery from your shipping carrier, as we cannot be held responsible for goods lost or damaged in transit.
Refunds
Once we have received your returned item, we will process your refund within 14 working days. The refund will be issued to the original payment method used to place the order.

Coffee is roasted to order on Monday and Thursday for dispatch on the following day with Next Day Delivery
Our standard delivery rate is £3.80. Orders over £30 will receive free delivery.
