  • Agri Evolve is a profit-for-purpose agribusiness based in Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains, focused on producing, processing, and exporting coffee in a way that improves outcomes for the people who grow it. Founded in 2016, they work with around 2,000 smallholder farmers across Kasese District, providing training, resources, and market access with a clear goal: better quality coffee, stronger farm incomes, and more sustainable agriculture in the region.

A major marker of how seriously they take that mission is their B Corp certification. In 2023, Agri Evolve became a certified B Corporation, achieving an impact score of 81.5—a third-party standard that reflects measurable commitment to ethical business practices, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship (not just good intentions).

Environmental conservation is a core part of their approach, particularly in a landscape where deforestation pressure is real. Agri Evolve tackles this through practical, on-the-ground initiatives that reduce reliance on firewood and improve the long-term health of coffee farms. They’ve distributed over 2,400 energy-efficient stoves to households in the region and cultivate more than 130,000 native shade tree seedlings each year, supplying farmers with trees that help create healthier growing conditions while also combating forest loss.

They also invest in the future of coffee production by supporting farmers with improved planting material. By providing SL14 and SL28 coffee seedlings, Agri Evolve helps farmers replace older, lower-yield trees with more productive and resilient varieties—aiming for long-term sustainability, stronger yields, and improved cup quality over time.

Just as important is the human side of the work: employment, empowerment, and capability-building across the Rwenzoris. Agri Evolve is the largest employer in the region, directly supporting 80+ employees and working with hundreds more farmers through the season, while putting emphasis on fair employment practices and staff development.

To strengthen communication and farmer support, they use a Rural Sourcing Management (RSM) app that helps track harvest data and gives farmers real-time value estimates for their coffee, alongside access to additional support such as microloans—making the supply chain more transparent and helping farmers make better decisions during harvest.
